Weekend 1: BSC - Tera Midlands RTS 2024/25

The first-weekend training session for the RS Tera Midland RTS 2024/25 kicked off at Burton Sailing Club where we had 7 sailors attend. The focus for the weekend was a mixture of boat handling and boat speed.

On the first day, we were waiting for the wind to fill in, but unfortunately, it never did. So, we covered some theory of boat speed, the physics of the sail and how it works for both upwind and downwind, and how we could change the sail settings to make the most of the sail depending on the conditions. The first day also incorporated some games and eventually paddleboarding, which was a fun way to finish off the day.

On the second day, we were fortunate enough to get a little more wind, 5-8 knots. This day, the group practised their racing tacks and the processes to execute them, as well as their different modes, such as high, VMG, and low, which they would use when on the upwind leg. It was a productive day, with the team showing noticeable improvement.
