Sailing has become much more physically demanding due to new boats like skiffs and hydro-foiling classes, as well as tougher regatta formats that require greater strength and stamina.

To meet these challenges, sailors use running and cycling to build endurance, stay fit, and prevent injuries. Running is great for improving stamina, strength, and speed, with workouts like sprints, hill runs, and intervals helping sailors handle the demands of racing. Cycling offers a low-impact way to boost cardio fitness and leg strength, mimicking some of the physical demands of sailing, such as hiking, while being easier on the joints.

By combining running and cycling with other exercises, sailors can prepare their bodies for peak performance on the water.
